#OutOfOffice – Best Restaurants in Gran Canaria

A couple of weeks ago my two friends and I spent a week in the beautiful island of Gran Canaria. Our only plans involved soaking up the sun, eating good food and drinking as much sangria as possible!

Prior to flying out, I began researching the best restaurants to dine at whilst in Gran Canaria so it wasn’t a last minute dash to find somewhere each evening, and to avoid the risk of being disappointed. But I couldn’t find any blogs or websites that gave good recommendations along with photos of the food (we all like a good food photo!).

So although we wanted to avoid making last minute restaurant decisions, this is exactly what we ended up doing most evenings, but thankfully we managed to find discover some incredible restaurants with delicious food.

I wanted to put together a little round up of our favourite eateries on the island, for other foodies like myself who may be planning a trip there in the near future.

LoLa

This tiny restaurant is located within Playa del Ingles, inside a complex of bars and restaurants. It’s pretty hidden, so it took us ages to find it but trust me, it’s worth it!

The interior is beautiful with a menu that’s even better. A mix of modern Mediterranean cuisine with Asian influences which for me is the perfect combination. Steak with a side of sashimi followed by chocolate french toast – the dream!

Maximilian’s Restaurant

We stumbled upon Maximilian’s by chance, but loved it so much we decided to return the again on our final evening. Everyone loves Italian food, right? And it seriously did not disappoint. Huge portions, friendly Italian waiters and a unique charm that was one of the reasons we wanted to come back.

It’s located along the beach too and surrounded by bars and shops, so after dinner you can enjoy a stroll and a spot of shopping before grabbing a cocktail.

La Tapita

We jumped into the taxi one evening, completely unorganised and not knowing where we were going. After asking the driver if he had any recommendations, he responded by telling us he knew where to find the best tapas in Gran Canaria. Bold statement I know! We didn’t believe him until we were sat inside the restaurant eating some of the most delicious tapas with the hugest grins on our faces.

Warning – don’t be fooled by the surroundings or the fact there are no tourists in sight. This is where the locals dine, and that’s how you know it’s good!

Puerto de Mogan

We took a boat to the stunning Puerto de Mogan for a morning of exploring, shopping and eating. I highly recommend a visit, even if it’s just for the perfect Instagram photo! The white washed walls covered in the most bright and beautiful flowers made it feel as though we were in Santorini.

I’m including this in my round up due to the number of restaurants we passed whilst walking along the harbour, serving up delicious Spanish cuisine. Grab a table outside overlooking the boats to people watch as you eat paella and sip sangria!
