Burger & Lobster

You know your otherwise mundane Tuesday is going to be a gooden when you’re invited to lunch but the venue is a surprise. This happened to me last week.

The bar is instantly set high when something is a surprise, and my friend and I spent our morning wondering where we were being taken!

When lunchtime finally arrived, I couldn’t have been more happier to see the “Burger & Lobster” sign as we walked around the corner!

Since it’s opening a couple of years ago, a trip to Burger & Lobster has been long overdue and I’ve been dying to find out what all the fuss is about.

Upon arriving, we propped ourselves up at the bar and ordered a cocktail whilst we waited for our table to become available.

The menu (written on a chalkboard hanging on the wall) is simple, which saves all that umming and arring about what to order and the fear of serious food envy when you wish you’d ordered something else once it arrives!

You have a choice of a whole lobster (boiled, grilled or in a brioche roll with mayonnaise) or a burger. Or if you’re seriously indecisive like myself, you can opt for half lobster and half burger which sounded like a fabulous idea to me. All meals are £20 and each come with a pot of thin-cut fries and a side salad.

The lobster arrived next to a little saucepan of lemon and garlic butter to drizzle on top. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.

Next up was the burger. Wow! My burger was cooked medium to rare, which is personally how I think all burgers should be enjoyed! It was oozing with melted cheese and topped with bacon. I was glad I got to try the lobster but next time I’ll definitely be ordering the burger on it’s own. I’ve decided it’s too good to only have half of!

I don’t know how we managed dessert, but somehow we found room. We couldn’t decide between the Oreo cheesecake mousse topped with crumbled Oreo’s or the Eton Mess, so I took my own advice and did the same thing I always do when faced with this predicament…when in doubt, order both!

The Eton Mess barely got a look in from me as I couldn’t get enough of the pot of Oreo goodness. Oreo cheesecake mousse….who knew!? And how have I not eaten this before? It was amaaaazing!

I don’t know how I’ve gone this long before visiting Burger & Lobster, especially knowing there is one conveniently located right around the corner from where I work in The City. I can’t think of any excuse not to go back!
