My sister Erin turned 30 last weekend! And what a weekend it was!
To celebrate, we got all our family together with her boyfriend’s family and organised an evening at Circus in London. We booked the stage table, which meant we had the best seats in the house to watch the spectacular acts performing on our table in between courses. Think Cirque du Soleil type entertainment, but whilst enjoying incredible pan Asian food. Perfect!
Upon arrival we were seated straight away at the long stage table in the middle of the restaurant, and each presented with a glass of prosecco. I also ordered my new favourite cocktail at the moment, a pornstar martini. I know, I know, it’s been the it cocktail for a while now and I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered how amaaazing it is!
Small plates of edemame beans on ice, chilli salt squid, chicken and snow pea gyoza and a vegetarian sushi selection were brought out to share amongst us. As soon as we had finished our starters, the table was cleared to make room for the first performance. The shutters to the kitchen crept down and the restaurant descended into darkness as the performers took to the table.
After the first two acts had finished and the lights came on again, my sister’s boyfriend stood up and began a speech thanking everyone for attending the meal to celebrate Erin’s birthday. Then, he reached for his pocket and pulled out a little box, before getting down on one knee!! It was the best surprise ever! I was already recording his speech so I quickly ran round to the end of the table to make sure I caught the proposal perfectly on camera, which I’m so glad I did as we must have watched it back at least 100 times the next day! I’ve never seen my sister look so surprised and happy!
After the big surprise, and another performance, more plates filled with fillet steak, teriyaki salmon, yellow curry along with rice and mixed vegetables were presented to us. I was too excited to eat by this point so only tried the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly medium/rare and melted in my mouth.
For dessert, we all shared the huge rich chocolate torte birthday cake that was brought out to my sister with candles and a message. The perfect end to the meal! The lovely staff then informed us they had reserved a large area for us in the lounge bar to enjoy the rest of our evening, which I thought was really thoughtful of them.
The restaurant turned into one big disco when the DJ started and we all got up onto the stage table and danced until it was time to go home. It was the perfect way to celebrate the engagement!
The staff really made our evening special by being so friendly and lovely. They didn’t make us feel rushed or uncomfortable at any point during the meal, which is so common at a lot of restaurants I’ve been to in the past. So thank you so much to everyone at Circus for making it a night to remember.
Congratulations Erin and C! I’m SO happy for you both. Roll on the wedding!!!
I made a vlog of our evening and uploaded it to my YouTube channel. Please give the video a thumbs up if you liked it! I upload new videos weekly so please subscribe to my channel too. Thank you!!
