Discover Dogs

Being the crazy dog people that my friend Ellise and I are, we decided to book tickets to London’s biggest dog show, Discover Dogs. 3,000 dogs under one roof, it’s any dog lovers dream!

Ellise is the organiser of our group, so had planned for us both to take the cable car over from the o2 and walk the short distance to the Excel Centre.

We jumped off the cable car and began finding our way to the Excel Centre when something in my head clicked and I remembered seeing somewhere that it was held at Earl’s Court, NOT the Excel Centre. After checking our tickets…..yep, we’d got the venue completely wrong!!!

Back on the cable car, we couldn’t stop laughing at our stupidity, and decided to treat ourselves to some Gauchos for lunch before heading to the correct venue, seeing as we were already at the o2!

We both ordered a Piola cocktail, made from Belvedere vodka, lemon, lime, orange juice, mint, sugar and chocolate bitters, garnished with a sprinkling of chocolate shavings. It was as yummy as it sounds!

We shared a sausage platter, sweet potato chips and roasted pumpkin and sweetcorn served in a corn husk.

Fiiiiiiiiiinally, after travelling pretty much the length of London, we arrived at Earl’s Court.

Once inside, you are left to browse the hundreds of stalls offering everything you could ever need for your dog, from toys to clothes to food.

There are also two arenas offering performances throughout the day, such as how to train your dog and dancing to music!

We both went straight to the back where they had every single breed of dog for you to discover.

These were a few of my favourites…

How beautiful is this Portuguese Water Dog, I wanted to take him home with me…

His owner had stepped away for a minute so he was waiting patiently for her to come back…

Whilst we were wandering around the stalls, I stumbled upon one of my favourite dog boutiques, Holly & Lil. I first discovered their shop in Bermondsey a few years ago through my friend who lived in the area. I regularly pop in there when I want to stock up on lovely, unique goodies for my dogs.

They have the friendliest staff, and if you visit their shop in Bermondsey, you will almost certainly be joined by some of the neighbourhood dogs wandering around the shop with you!!

Don’t you just want to cuddle these little teddy bears…

“It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!!!”

I couldn’t leave without treating Coco and Frankie to something, so I bought Coco a cute “Pupcake” from Alpha & Ruby’s Dog Bakery which she loved!

And for Frankie, something a bit cheeky to match his personality…

If you’re thinking of buying a dog, Discover Dogs is the perfect place to meet, greet and choose which breed is right for you before you buy, from over 200 different breeds! After all, buying a dog is a massive commitment and you’ll want to know what’s best for you and your future dog. You can chat to the breeders who are happy to tell you everything you need to know and how to buy.

Or if you’re just a dog lover like Ellise and I, it’s nice to have a look around and a good opportunity to spoil your pooch!
