Festive Eggnog Recipe

Eggnog is probably one of the most iconic and festive drinks to enjoy over the Christmas period, but up until this weekend I’d never even tried it! So, this weekend I gathered together the ingredients, followed the surprisingly easy recipe and enjoyed it Saturday night whilst watching a Christmas film. How cliche of me!

I wanted to share the recipe on my blog incase anyone else was thinking of a Christmasy cocktail to whip up over the festive season.

What you’ll need (serves 4):

500ml milk

3 eggs, separated

5 tablespoons of caster sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

200ml brandy (I used courvoisier)

150ml single cream

Firstly, heat the milk on a low heat until almost boiling.

Meanwhile, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and sugar…

…then gradually add the vanilla…

…then the most important ingredient, the brandy!

Carefully mix in the cream then pour in the hot milk.

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff….

Then fold the egg whites into the milk mixture until smooth.

And that’s it! Easy peasy.

Pop the mixture into the fridge to chill, before serving with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top!

Enjoy as a pre-Christmas dinner tipple as your guests arrive, or in the evening whilst cuddled up watching Downton Abbey (which I am beyond excited for)!

Merry Christmas!
