Every year the girls and I get together for our annual Christmas night out. This year, we booked through the company “Best Parties Ever”, who arrange spectacular Christmas parties all over the country!
The theme of our night was The Roaring Twenties, so a few of us decided to make a day of it and get our hair and make up done 1920’s style beforehand. We booked in at Mars & Venus in Brentwood for the ultimate pamper day. Not only are they a hairdressers, they also have a room dedicated to ‘The Make Up Lounge‘ owned by celebrity make up artist Kayleigh Whiting and upstairs you’ll find the the Salon of Beauty offering every beauty treatment you can imagine.
For my blowdry, I asked for classic 1920’s curls with one side slicked behind my ear and make up wise I had gold eyes with black flicked eyeliner and a dark berry lip.
Before our taxi arrived to take us to the venue, we gathered at one of the girls houses for pre-drinks, pre-drunken photos and shameless selfies!
We pulled up at a huge marquee and as soon as we entered we were transported back to the twenties.
As everyone congregated at the front of the marquee, singing flapper girls emerged along with acrobats who entertained the guests before another set of doors opened to allow us into the dining area.
For starter we ate mozzarella, tomato, mushroom and asparagus with a platter of mixed cured Italian meats…
Michael Buble’s Christmas album blasted through the venue as we ate our food, putting us all in the Christmas spirit so much that this happened..
You’ve got to love cheesy cracker gifts…
Chicken breast, creamy diaphanous potatoes and mixed veg is what we ate for main as more acrobats wowed us all on the dance floor, followed by dancers who reenacted scenes from Chicago the musical.
After our mains were cleared it was time for Secret Santa! Apart from a few slip ups, the majority of us genuinely didn’t know who had who.
I received a beautiful illustration by the uber talented Brittany Fuson. I’d been lusting over her prints for years and now I finally have my own! Thanks
“Celine Me Alone!”
Dessert arrived in the form of a lemon tart with a raspberry coulis to drizzle on top. Due to the fact that they are catering for hundreds of people I didn’t have high expectations for our meal, but I must say I thought all three courses were delicious!
After we’d all finished we were invited up to the dancefloor as the DJ began. Cue over-dramatic singing…
No party is complete without…..DODGEMS!! Yep, dodgems at a Christmas party. Whoever’s idea this was deserves a high five!
Drunken dodgems…the only time where driving under the influence is totally acceptable…
Looking back, I am slightly concerned with how determined and evil I look as I searched out Ellise and Danielle’s car whilst plotting how I can sneak up behind and ram into them…
It didn’t work, they were onto me the whole time!…
Upon discovery of a photo booth complete with props, this was where we spent the best part of an hour being silly and finding it absolutely hilarious…
They also had a professional photographer there creating perfect group photos to take home…
As our evening drew to a close, a ‘survivor’s breakfast’ of hot bacon and sausage sandwiches were passed around before we made our home. Possibly the best ending to a fabulous night!
Thank you ‘Best Parties Ever’! Here’s to next year!
