Guest Post: Four Top A/W Style Steals by Lucinda Bounsall at farfetch.com

This week’s steal her style is by Lucinda Bounsall from farfetch.com who kindly offered to write a guest post for ‘she goes wear’ illustrating four top A/W styles to inspire you this season…

There’s something comforting about winter, maybe it’s the warm glow of fires or the fresh scent of a gingerbread latte floating on the breeze every five meters from a Starbucks coffee shop. Whatever it is don’t forget it, don’t let the idea of long rainy days and perennially snotty noses get you down, winters not that bad.

The best thing about it is the prospect of legitimately being allowed to spend double on our wardrobes compared to the summer months! September is the perfect month to start all of your winter wardrobe shopping, it’s time to bring out that debit card and invest in hats, scarves, beautiful winter coats and all of the other ‘must have’ winter items.

Winter dressing is so much more luxurious and fun than summer clothes; it’s all about layering and colour palate and those key pieces that you fall in love with and wear almost every day. But what if you’re feeling a little uninspired, you’re not sure what items you’re going to be investing in – you’re generally feeling a little underwhelmed by giving your wardrobe a long over-due new season update?

Well, fear not, there is a wealth of inspiration online from fashionable friends on Facebook to checking out off-duty models’ street style on Pinterest. But as if that wasn’t enough we’ve put together four of our favourite autumn winter looks for you to be inspired by.

For an effortlessly chic and simple winter look you simply can’t go wrong with monochrome, a leather skirt is perfect whatever the weather and looks brilliant teamed with a chunky knit to really play around with textures. This outfit, worn by style maven Alexa Chung, is perfect as we transition between the seasons; as it gets a little cooler simply add an oversized super long coat and a pair of tights to keep legs warm!

1. Topshop – Knitted Angora Jumper – £46
2. Accessorize – Heart Print Oversize Clutch – £19
3. H&M – Imitation Leather Skirt – £15
4. GAP – Sheer Dot Tights – £9.50
5. River Island – Black Cut Out Chelsea Boots – £35

One thing we love about putting together outfits is re-working them for the new season; we’ve been wearing boyfriend jeans with camisole tops all summer so it’s fun to change things up as the weather turns. For a sexy off-duty winter look you can’t go wrong teaming your jeans with an oversized blazer and a pair of heels. We reckon that the fedora hat is also going to be one of the biggest accessories this season so invest in a really nice one and wear it all the time!

1. Topshop – Pleat Seam Tee By Boutique – £30
2. H&M – Leopard Print Scarf – £6.99
3. 2Bstores – Ali Fedora – £12
4. River Island – Light Wash ripped Cassie Boyfriend Jeans – £45
5. New Look – Black Crepe Longline Boyfriend Blazer – £28

There is no harm in adding a pop of colour into your winter repertoire, in fact this season we would encourage it, the shade to be seen in is pink and there is a wealth of beautiful dusty rose coats on the high street. If you fancy a look that packs a little bit more of a punch then this amazing orange-red coat from Zara is the perfect option for you. Tie in the colour of the coat to the rest of your outfit with matching detailings, these amazing moccasins from Dulccio Del Duca are perfect and flats are going to be huge this season so you’ll get great wear out of them.

1. Reiss – Dilly Chunky Rib Jumper – £120
2. Zara – Coat with Gathering on the Shoulder – £99
3. Jack Wills – Fernham Skinny Jean-reg – £50
4. Dulccio Del Duca – Moccasins – £125
5. ASOS – Satchel Bag with Strap – £17.50

For a casual ensemble that is unparalleled in chic and cool get your hands on a perennially stylish parka jacket. This double layered khaki style is a must have for cold winter days and the ideal option for layering with a luxe knit and denim shirt. If you fancy something a little different then wear your parka over a floral tea dress to give an otherwise feminine summer look a cool new season update.

1. Monki – Blair Denim Shirt – £25
2. River Island – Khaki Double Layer Parka Jacket – £60
3. H&M – Knitted Jumper – £14.99
4. Cheap Monday – 32in Black Skinny Jeans – £25
5. Urban Outfitters – Vegan Leather Doctors Bag – £37
6. ASOS – Airway Biker Ankle Boots – £50

So there are four of our favourite off-duty winter looks, remember getting dressed up is meant to be fun! Make sure you take the time to put together a wardrobe where every item works well together to avoid buying things that you’ll never wear. There’s also no harm in saving a little and investing in really decent winter coat and boots, after all you’ll wear them every day. So have fun planning your winter wardrobe; what trends will you be trying out most?
