Meeting Joan Collins

Selfridges is one of my favourite stores to visit because it holds everything you could ever want and more, all in one place. It’s not hard to see why it’s voted the best department store in the world!

There’s nothing I love more than a day shopping in London with my mum, so when she saw on Twitter that Joan Collins was signing her new book at Selfridges, we decided to make a day of it. We arrived late morning, bought her book, received a wristband and was told to come back at 2pm which gave us a good few hours of shopping.

We browsed the designer studio, obsessing over the works of art of some of my favourite designers including Celine, Diane von Furstenberg and Alexander McQueen.

Possibly the world’s most fashionable piano!

After a lot of walking in heels we made a stop off at the food hall for some lunch. Every time we’re here we go to the same place for the most amazing salt beef sandwiches…

Fully re-fueled, we had a little wander and came across these beautiful flowers that deserved a photo…

The entire store is fully decked out for Christmas, with fairy lights everywhere you look and enticing gingerbread men Christmas trees dotted around the food hall…

^ My beautiful Mum ^

We finally made our way to the second floor where Joan Collins was to be signing her book, and there were hundreds upon hundreds of people already queuing up. Thankfully as we’d got our wristband much earlier, we were placed with the first set of people and only had to wait 20 minutes!

Sitting with her husband Percy by her side, Joan looked absolutely gorgeous and was unbelievably friendly. As we walked up to her the first thing she said to me was “I love your hair!”. She then complemented our make up and said that it’s very important for women to wear good make up!

I still can’t believe how beautiful she looks, if I look just half as good as she does when I’m 80, I’ll be very happy!!

I love this quote that Joan once said: “Age is just a number. It’s totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.” Love her!

After all the excitement we decided to call it a day and jumped into a cab to head home.

I love how Christmasy Oxford Street looks already, I can’t wait for the proper annual lights to go up!

Only 60 days to go!!! Anyone else as excited as I am?
