My 25th Birthday

On Independence Day 25 years ago, I was born! I’ve been winding everyone up at work by saying that I’m getting old, but seriously, I can’t believe that in 5 years time I will be 30! Crazy! Why can’t I just stay this age forever?

To celebrate, I wanted to keep things really low key, so I booked a quiet dinner at my favourite restaurant in London on Friday with the girls, and my boyfriend had planned a day in London for us both on Saturday.

I’m so glad I planned something low key for Friday, because I woke up in the morning with the worst hangover of my entire life! I had been out all day on Thursday at a corporate event at work, and arrived home in the early hours of Friday. With only a few hours sleep I didn’t know how I was going to get through the day, let alone get ready and head out again in the evening!! Somehow, I managed to power through and after work I met the girls and headed to the ME Hotel just in time for our reservation at STK.

I wore my favourite little black dress by a brand I am obsessed with at the moment, Self Portrait, with  lace up black heels.

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s); = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

We were seated and ordered a round of STK martinis whilst we decided what to eat.

For starters, we all ordered the mini burgers, and for main we ordered the steak and chicken. Obviously, we had to have the famous STK mac n cheese on the side. It is unbelievably good!

After dinner, we headed straight up to the Radio bar at the top of the ME Hotel. It’s my favourite bar in London! It’s particularly amazing in the Summer when you can take full advantage of the outdoor terrace. With the DJ playing in the corner, stylish people roaming around and the heat pouring in from the open doors, at one point I thought I was back in Ibiza! An amazing end to my evening with the girls!

I woke up on Saturday to clear blue skies and beautiful, hot sunshine. I opened my presents and blew out my candles on my cake! No matter what age you are, you’re never too old for a cake with candles!

We headed into London in the early afternoon to wander around Covent Garden and enjoy the gorgeous weather. Covent Garden is my favourite place in London in the Summer. There are plenty of outside areas to enjoy a drink under the sun, and the street performers are out in full force.

At 5pm, L told me he had booked a restaurant for dinner but wouldn’t tell me which one. I followed him around the corner and we ended up outside Clos Maggiore, a restaurant I have been wanting to visit for sooo long! When I knew we were heading into London weeks before, I tried booking the restaurant but they were fully booked. Somehow, L had got us a reservation at such short notice and I have no idea how! They are fully booked months and months in advance, especially at weekends! It remains a mystery!

I was so unbelievably happy (despite my moody resting face below haha), and couldn’t wait to get inside!

I wanted to wear something loose and light but dressy at the same time, so wore my new dress from Reiss (68% off in the sale!!!). I paired it with nude block heels and a white clutch to dress it down a bit. I also wear this to work with black pointy heels.

The restaurant was everything I had expected, cosy, welcoming and incredibly romantic. The outdoor terrace was draped in tiny fairy lights, with a fireplace in the middle.

The staff instantly made us feel welcome and were so friendly. They were more than happy to talk us through the menu and recommend certain wines to compliment our food.

We ordered a bottle of vintage Chateauneuf du Pape from the biggest wine list I had ever seen in my life! After the wine was sorted, it was time for food. For starters, I wanted something light and fresh, so opted for the asparagus which arrived on a bed of pesto and brocciu cheese with pine nut crust.

L had the duck fois gras with a crisp confit duck leg.

Both dishes were delishhhhh. Just enough not to fill me up too much but to leave me wanting more and excited for my main.

Our mains arrived shortly after our starters were cleared. I had the whole corn fed spring chicken, with potato gnocchi, aubergine caviar, dressed in a lemon jus.

L ordered the roasted pork loin which arrived with petit pois and covered in a bacon sauce.

The creamiest truffle mash arrived on the side. Yum!

The portions were deceiving and at first looked small, but the food was so rich in flavour that we struggled to finish everything! It filled us up perfectly without leaving us feeling uncomfortable.

We were far too full for desserts, so enjoyed the rest of our wine as we let our food go down.

Out of the blue, a waiter brought over a plate with a candle and a couple of caramel truffles on the side. On the plate it read Happy Birthday. What a lovely surprise!

We left the restaurant and jumped into a rickshaw to head towards my next surprise! A few minutes later we pulled up outside the Piccadilly theatre. I instantly saw the Jersey Boys signs and almost screamed with excitement!

I’ve wanted to see the Jersey Boys for years and years! I was a tres happy girl!

We headed inside and enjoyed a drink in a lounge before being shown to our seats.

The show was absolutely amazing, my new favourite by far! Both the acting and singing from the entire cast was incredible. I expected to recognise a couple of songs, but didn’t realise I would know them all! The cast were amazing at interacting with the audience, and got everyone up dancing by the end. I had so much fun!

I can genuinely say I had the most perfect weekend. A lovely evening with my ladies, followed by a day and evening with my love! I’ve been spoilt rotten and feel so incredibly lucky to have such wonderful friends, family and boyfriend. Thank you for making me the happiest birthday princess in all the land! I love you all very much!
