Oblix @ The Shard

I revealed in one of my previous blog posts about my obsession with dining in the clouds. The higher up the restaurant, the better! I’m a sucker when it comes to a fabulous view, especially over London, so what better place to have lunch than in the tallest building in Europe!

Oblix is located across the entire 32nd floor of The Shard. Upon entering, a dark pathway sends you to their cocktail bar that has a live band in the corner, and in the opposite direction you’re lead through the energetic kitchen to your table.

I was visiting on a business lunch, so came straight from work wearing a fit and flare work dress and black pointy heels.

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘d27mzdfpkg2pgg.cloudfront.net’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

We started off with a drink in the bar overlooking the City before moving onto our table. We pointed out the building where we work and admired the new “walkie talkie” skyscraper that we will be moving into at the end of the year. It has a stunning sky garden and a Heston Blumenthal restaurant located on the rooftop. I’m so excited!!!

Seared beef drizzled in lime, chilli, garlic and ginger dressing is what I ordered to start, and the beef melted in my mouth…

And my guest ordered the largest caesar salad I’ve ever seen in my life…

I ordered the BBQ black cod for main which was incredible, and that says a lot as I initially believed that nothing could ever compare to the black cod I had in Paris!

I don’t care what you say, if Mac & Cheese is on the menu, I’m ordering it! It’s my ultimate favourite. We also ordered some tenderstem broccoli, chunky chips, mashed potato and cauliflower to have on the side.

Surprisingly, I could still manage something sweet afterwards, and after spotting the “Red Velvet Hot Cake” on the dessert menu and simply had to order it.

Once the cake is broken into, hot red velvet chocolate oozed from the middle. Broken red velvet biscuits were crumbled around the cake and it was served with vanilla ice cream.

After our meal we took a walk around the building to admire the view from all angles. I challenge you to find a view of London more fabulous than this…

London, I think I may have fallen in love with you all over again!
