Olympus PEN

One of my goals for 2016 was to up my photography game. I had a view in my head of what I wanted my blog to evolve into and in order to get to where I wanted it to be, I needed to improve the quality of my images. This meant I needed to go on the search for a brand new camera.

After reviewing countless cameras, I eventually found the perfect one that ticked all the right boxes. Let me introduce you to my Olympus PEN E-PL7! It’s compact enough to slip into my bag on a night out or carry around effortlessly during the day, yet it produces DSLR quality images. You can attach different lenses too, depending on what situation you’re in.

Almost 3 months on, and I am totally in love! Not only with the camera, but with the Olympus brand as a whole. They’re dedicated to making sure you get the best out of your camera, by holding a number of workshops suited to all types of photographers.

Last week I was very kindly invited by Olympus to a bloggers workshop, the first of many to come, which I attended with my friend Jenie. They laid on a buffet of snacks and prosecco which we enjoyed before our masterclass with Jay McLaughlin began. Jay is an extremely talented fashion photographer and an Olympus brand visionary. He taught us so many tips and tricks that will help to improve our blog and social media content.

I wanted to share a couple of photos we both took during the workshop when Jenie and I were testing out the different settings and tips we had learnt. The photos above (except the one of the actual camera) were taken on my PEN with the 45mm lens (highly highly recommend for that dreamy blurred background).

Here is a couple of other photos I took over Christmas that demonstrate the stunning background which is created due to the low F1.8 on the 45mm lens.

How pretty! I am obsessed!

If you’re thinking of joining the PENgeneration (love it), there are loads more details about the PEN collection over on their website here, or click here to keep up to date with all of their upcoming workshops. Give me a tweet if you’re attending any in the future and maybe I’ll see you there!
