Reunion in London

7 months ago, we met two of the loveliest people whilst on holiday in Mauritius. It was our second day into our holiday, and after meeting during the day around the resort, we decided to meet up that evening for drinks after dinner.

Instantly, it was as though we had known them for years! We didn’t stop for breath as we chatted for hours in between sipping cocktail after cocktail. Before we knew it, we looked around and realised we were the last 4 people in the bar and it was the early hours of the morning.

I woke up the following morning and physically couldn’t lift my head. Far too many strawberry daiquiris!

From that day forward, despite the fact they were on their honeymoon, we met up every day, either for a day by the pool or dinner and drinks in the evening. Sometimes both! We were pretty much inseparable, and we joked at the time that we were the honeymoon crashers!

Anyway, after spending two weeks together, it was our final day at the resort. We waved goodbye to Amy & Dan that morning as they made their way to Dubai for the second leg of their honeymoon (lucky buggers), and L and I left that evening to catch our flight home.

Fast forward 7 months, and we FINALLY got a date in the diary for the 4 of us to reunite and have a proper catch up. I couldn’t wait!

L and I made our way into London earlier in the evening to grab a few cocktails before dinner. We headed straight to one of our favourite haunts, Aqua Kyoto.

I ordered from the Japanese section of the menu that featured a number of delicious sounding cocktails. I can’t remember the name but it was basically a banana bellini and it was beyond yummy.

Not only did it look incredible pretty, a dark chocolate and sea salt lipstick was placed on the side to eat, to compliment the flavours of the cocktail.

We left Aqua and jumped into a rickshaw that took us to Haka no Sana in time for our reservation.

As soon as we entered the restaurant we spotted our friends at the bar and were immediately shown to our table where we could properly start to catch up.

From the moment we sat down, we did not stop talking and laughing. It was as though we were back in Mauritius, minus the warm weather!

We opted for the set menu of miso soup, tempura prawns, a selection of sushi and teriyaki salmon, and we ordered black cod and steak as well from the a la carte menu.

I was a bad blogger and was too busy chatting to snap my food! I kept remembering after I had eaten each course!

I don’t mind though, as the evening was all about catching up and that’s certainly what we did.

After dinner, we jumped into a cab which took us around the corner to Sketch. After a few drinks and a couple of tequilas (always a good idea at the time), we requested an Uber and called it a night.

We had such a lovely evening! Good food, yummy cocktails and the best company. As we parted ways, we all promised we wouldn’t leave it this long next time, and I’m looking forward to our next reunion already!
