Christmas is just another excuse for us girls to get together for a day of drinking and eating far too much!

This year, we decided to stay local in Essex and book Sheesh for lunch and see where the day takes us.

Sheesh is located in a gorgeous listed building in Chigwell, serving up the most delicious Turkish food.

As soon as we arrived, we ordered a pornstar martini each and sipped them whilst opening our secret santa gifts. It didn’t remain a secret for long as we swapped presents in front of each other. Oops!

The restaurant is simply stunning with beautiful floor to ceiling windows and giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Everything is black and gold, including the cutlery.

Food arrived promptly after ordering.

Flaming garlic button mushrooms topped with cheese were placed on our table…

Shortly followed by prawns in a pan swimming in a tomato sauce topped with feta cheese.

…and a plate of thin pastries stuffed with spinach and cheese accompanied by a tomato based sauce to dunk them into. These were so yummy!

As soon as we’d received all our starters, the table went quiet except for the occasional ‘mmmm’ as we tucked in. They were all absolutely delicious and we finished them in a matter of minutes!

After a brief break in between courses, we were presented with our mains.

I ordered the marinated chicken breast cubes which arrived next to a selection of salads. I wish I could explain how good the chicken was. Juicy, soft and full of flavour. It melted in my mouth.

I’d never been to Sheesh before but so many people had told me how large their portions are and that it’s best to share a main.

Of course I didn’t listen and took on the challenge to finish an entire main to myself…..and failed! I managed around half the skewer of chicken and the majority of the salad so I didn’t do too badly!

I’ve always said I would rather have too much food than too little. Restaurants that serve huge portions are winning in my eyes!

Our mains were cleared and we were given the dessert menu. We all studied the menu, knowing we were far too full to even manage one but at the same time wanting to order everything!

I had my eye on the bread and butter pudding with thick cream but just could not bring myself to order it. What a let down! Next time I visit, I will make sure I save some space just for that pudding.

If I could describe Sheesh in one word it would be glamorous. From the decor to the people enter through the doors. This is why it was the perfect venue for us as we love to dress up. You can never be too overdressed for Sheesh, and that’s what I love about it!
