Sunday Brunch & Cocktails

It was one of my best friend’s birthdays a couple of Sundays ago. To celebrate, Jen rounded up her closest friends for Sunday brunch at The South Place Hotel in London. Brunch is my favourite meal of the day, so I was excited with the prospect of spending my otherwise chilled Sunday sipping unlimited bellinis and eating as much as I can!

As soon as I saw the menu, I spotted the delicious choice of desserts, so I decided to skip starters and opt for a main and dessert instead.

I ordered wild mushroom and butternut squash mac n cheese for main. Whenever I see mac n cheese on a menu, I simply have to order it! I am obsessed.

We could choose between prosecco, bellinis or a non-alcoholic cocktail for our unlimited drinks. I chose a bellini, one of my faves! As soon as I had a few sips left of each glass, a brand new one was placed in front of me!

The restaurant was buzzing with like minded people celebrating birthdays or just the fact it’s the weekend!

As we began eating our mains, a jazz band began to play next to us

My mac n cheese was lovely but so rich and filling! As much as I adore mac n cheese, I think I’m going to stick to having it on the side in future, as it was far too filling for me and I only managed half of it otherwise I would never have been able to eat dessert too!

We let our mains go down and enjoyed countless more bellinis before ordering dessert.

No birthday is complete without candles, even if it’s just the one, so we secretly asked the restaurant staff to pop a candle into Jen’s dessert and we all sang happy birthday as it was brought out and placed in front of her.

I ordered the milk chocolate mousse, but got serious food envy when a plate of waffles with chocolate sauce was placed opposite me! I had to get an action shot!

My dessert arrived and instantly put an end to my food envy! I love anything chocolatey, so this was my idea of a perfect dessert. Creamy white chocolate mousse layered with crumbled milk chocolate biscuit on top.

Yum! The perfect cure for my sweet tooth!

We couldn’t leave without a group photo, so we took a couple on our way out!

I wore my favourite little white dress from the Kate Moss for Topshop collection, with silver Topshop heels. As the silver heels are now sold out, I’ve found some similar versions below…

We were in the mood for more cocktails, so we walked 5 minutes around the corner to Coq d’Argent to sit in the sun on their rooftop terrace.

A few of us ordered one of my favourite cocktails of all time, the Pornstar Martini.

Coq d’Argent’s roof terrace boasts some of the best views of the City, and we enjoyed our cocktails with the more beautiful backdrop.

The perfect backdrop for a selfie!

I don’t know whether it was the cocktails, or the fact that my friend Vikki is one of the funniest people I know, but what started out as smiling normally for a photo, turned into a major case of the giggles and we genuinely could not stop laughing!

I’m so glad this was caught on camera!

Just before we left, Vikki ordered the birthday girl one last gift, a shot of tequila! It would be rude not to!

What a perfect day with the loveliest girlies.

Happy birthday to one of my favourite people in the entire world! I hope you had the most magical birthday, you deserve it! I love you!
