Last week I drove to Maidstone for some meetings and lunch. I originally didn’t plan on blogging that particular day, but the restaurant we dined at was so lovely, I simply had to take a few snaps and share them with you all.
The restaurant is called The Twenty Six, and is new to Maidstone having only opened a couple of months ago. Despite this, if you wasn’t aware of this fact prior to visiting, you would think that they’ve been around for years.
The name represents the intimate nature of the restaurant. Twenty six chairs for twenty six people.
We were welcomed from the freezing cold to a roaring fire that instantly made me never want to leave! The restaurant is small and cosy, and has a homely feel to it with cushions and throws draped over the chairs.
The menu is small, however I still found it a task deciding what to order! I eventually decided on Beetroot and goats cheese for starter, followed by venison with truffle mash and roasted garlic for main. I cannot begin to describe how delicious this dish was. I will even go as far as saying it was one of the nicest dishes I have ever eaten!
Dessert wasn’t a hard decision for me, as soon as I saw the menu I knew I had to order the hot chocolate pudding with ice cream. Yum!
I like to give credit to restaurants that seriously impress, whether they’re new or long running, and The Twenty Six has made me want to return as soon as possible! It’s the perfect place to relax on a cold winters day, where you’re guaranteed a lovely atmosphere, and more importantly, good food to warm you up.
They also have a tasting room seating 8 to 12 people, which enables you to watch the theatre of the kitchen through the glass window. Perfect for an private dinner for a special occasion.
