Rewriting the Royal Ascot Dress Code

Fashion is about taking risks. Style is what you do with it to make it your own!

Without intending to be, Ascot (Ladies day in particular) has become the place for both women and men to showcase their individual styles. Personally, I love Ascot! What I enjoy the most is planning my outfit.

I have been challenged by Farfetch to rewrite the Royal Ascot dress code and create a new look for this fabulous event!

The story behind my chosen outfit began by taking inspiration from my style icons, Amal Clooney and Victoria Beckham. Both of these women ooze classiness and sophistication, which are two words that spring to mind when I think of the Royal Ascot.

The Royal Ascot is very traditional when it comes to their dress code, with 95% of women wearing dresses as opposed to a trouser suit. I have decided to break this tradition with my chosen outfit and styled a pair of gorgeous Oscar de la Renta wide leg trousers with a simple funnel neck top. Hidden under the trousers to flash when walking are a pair of scalloped edge pointed pumps

To catch the eye of fellow fashion lovers, my outfit simply had to include the most fabulous hat I could find. And I found it! The spectacular box hat by Piers Atkinson gives my outfit a true Summer feel with beautiful cherry blossom peering over the brim.

Jewellery has been kept to a minimum, with a Valentino stud cuff and tiny earrings that match the cherry blossom from the hat. Perfect!

To finish off my look, I’ve added a box clutch by Dolce & Gabbana that is truly stunning in every way possible and is keeping with the nature theme. From experience, despite the sun, the weather can turn chilly during the end of the day, so a shawl is essential!  I’ve chosen the one above that is light enough to carry around and it’ll feel like a big hug when wrapped around in the evening.

That’s my look! An outfit fit for one of the most fabulous events in any fashionista’s calender!
