#OutOfOffice | Lake District to Scotland
Our three days in the Lake District flew by and it was finally time to depart for Scotland. We threw our bags into the back of the car, said our goodbyes to the beautiful Gilpin Hotel (and promised we would return one day) and began the long yet beautiful drive North.
There were two routes we could take. Either straight onto the motorway which would take us all the way to Scotland, or through the mountains all the way to the top of the Lake District before joining the motorway. Obviously, we chose the second route!
Before setting off, we drove down to Lake Windermere one last time, seeing as it was such a beautiful day.
And we were off! Just look at this view…
It was the most stunning drive.
The route took us up snow topped mountains, through tiny, charming villages with old fashioned post boxes tucked into brick walls.
The road led us up and up a mountain, revealing the most amazing views over the Lake District.
As we got to the very top, we parked up and took a moment to ourselves.
We began making our way down the mountain, and just when we thought the views couldn’t get any better, the trees lining the roads started to clear, revealing the stunning Lake Ullswater…
Just after this lake we joined the motorway, bringing us back to reality and leaving the mountains and countryside behind us!
Even if you’re driving past the Lake District anytime soon, I highly recommend taking a slightly longer route and travelling through the mountains. You won’t regret it, I promise.
We arrived in Scotland shortly after and began my Sister’s wedding celebrations at Auchen Castle. The entire weekend was perfect. I was bursting with pride watching my Sister walk down the aisle. I wish I could travel back in time and re-live the entire week again and again! So many incredible memories.
I’m currently putting together a vlog of our time in the Lake District, so keep an eye on my YouTube channel as I’m aiming for it to be live within the next week!
See you in my next post xx
