Paris in August – Day One

I still cannot believe that after years of wanting to go to Paris, I have been lucky enough to visit 3 times in the last 6 months! I’m completely and utterly obsessed with the City.

This particular visit was to celebrate my sister’s 30th birthday. What better way to celebrate than with a girls trip to one of the most fabulous City’s in the world?!

We set off last Thursday morning to catch the Eurostar, and 2 hours later we found ourselves in the heart of Paris, waiting to catch a taxi to our hotel.

We stayed at Hotel de l’Arcade, a beautiful hotel located in the heart of the Madeleine Square. I fell in love with this area of Paris after staying there during my last visit, due to its charming neighbourhood of fancy chocolate shops and cafes. It is also conveniently located within walking distance to all the major attractions.

I shared a 3 bed room with my sister and cousin, which featured a second floor for the double bed. It was like our own mini apartment in Paris! Too cute.

After a quick change from my travelling attire, I was ready for my first day in Paris and most importantly, for an outfit shot…

Wearing: Head to toe Zara! (except for the Michael Kors watch)

We made our way to Laduree along the Champs Elysees just in time for lunch, champagne and macaroons.

…before walking off our lunch by taking a stroll along the Champs Elysees.

We dipped in and out of shops and made our way to Avenue Montaigne, home of some of the biggest high fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Fendi, Valentino and Ralph Lauren, as well as jewellers like Bulgari. We also stumbled upon the stunning Plaza Athenee hotel, which is where Carrie stayed in the Sex and the City episode, An American Girl in Paris. Did I mention how obsessed I am with SATC?! I need to stay in that hotel one day…

Once we reached the end of Avenue Montaigne, we came across my favourite view in Paris…

I truly believe that view will never get old!

The August sun was beating down on us so we decided to walk along the river in the direction of the Eiffel Tower to make the most of the heat.

We took a coffee break under the Eiffel Tower to rest our legs after our stroll, before jumping into a taxi to take us back in the direction of our hotel.

Whilst the Mum’s retreated to their room for a nap before dinner, the three of us took off in the direction of the Lourve. Starting at the top, we slowly made our way along The Tuileries Gardens. The gardens were stunning and serene, with several fountains along the strip with leaning chairs around them for people to sit back and relax.

There were also several different sculptures hidden amongst the parallel lines of trees, which we stopped at now and again to admire and pretend we knew what they meant!

As we approached the Louvre, the storm clouds gathered above us so we rushed to get some photos in front of the famous museum before jumping into a taxi just as the heavens opened!

That was the end of our first day in Pariiii, and back at the hotel we opened a bottle of wine as we started to get ready for our fabulous dinner reservation. I’ll update you on what we got up to in the evening in my next post…
