It’s a scientific fact that red is the colour of confidence. The study, published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, looked at the effects of the colour red on an individual’s perception of self-attractiveness. Red came out on top!
Personally, red has always been my go-to when I want to give myself a little boost. I instantly feel far more powerful and self-assured when I’m wearing the colour. I also believe it plays an important role in how we are perceived by others, and how we behave. It’s a powerful thing!
These reasons alone are why it’s my favourite colour to wear to work when I have an important meeting or for the times when I just want to feel my best. The annoying thing is how hard it is to find work outfits in this hue, but now and again they do pop up and I have been so excited to share with you my latest find.
wearing: Boden Knitted Midi Dress | Boden Red Courts | Leopard Print Belt
I genuinely did a little twirl in the mirror when I tried this dress on! The stretchy material hugs not too tightly in all the right places and the fit and flare design really flatters my figure.
The flowing skirt is in a slightly lighter, pinky shade creating a fabulous but subtle colour blocking effect. I paired it with a leopard print waist belt (which I will be wearing to death this Summer with lots of different outfits) and bright red/almost orange heels. When you’re wearing a dress like this, you might as well go all out with the accessories too!
As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been enjoying coming out of my comfort zone when it comes to workwear this year, and I think this outfit really shows that! Don’t get me wrong, I still feel nervous walking into the office wearing something a little daring (for me, anyway!), but I’ve found that if you have a positive mindset and believe in yourself then confidence will follow.
One of the best ways to boost your confidence is by challenging yourself. Try something new, even if you’re unsure or afraid. What’s the worst that can happen?
