Workwear Style | Olive is the new Black

I cheated on my Little Black Dress last week with a little green number. Olive to be exact. And I hold no guilt when I say I’ve fallen in love! I always said I would stop wearing black when they invented a darker colour, but that was before I discovered my love for all things Olive.

Olive gets a darker, tonal makeover for Autumn/Winter 2016, with grey undertones. It elongates the silhouette and instantly provides a sense of sophistication and class. For these reasons, it’s my new go to colour for the office. Oh, and it also helps that you can pair it with pretty much any colour.

I used my blonde hair as an accessory this time (does anyone else do this?), and kept it simple with black heels and bag. Other colours which look fabulous with Olive include gold as an accent (think statement necklace, belt, etc) and caramel (think suede pointed heels).

I’m going to be honest here, I borrowed my friend Tram’s bag for the shoot! We took these photos before heading to dinner, and when Tram offered me her Hermes Kelly to shoot with, I figured it would be rude to say no, right?! The hard part was giving it back. I cried inside a little as I reluctantly handed it back. One day, Dorothy, one day!

I’ve mentioned many times before about how my go-to office style is simple, staple items that I can throw on in the morning and instantly look put together. This dress is an exact example of that.

It requires no thinking and minimal time in the mornings, yet I leave the house feeling ten times more confident and ready for the day ahead. Whether it’s a day of meetings, or just getting through work in the office.

I’ve always stressed the importance of quality over quantity when it comes to workwear staples. This dress may be on the expensive end of the high street, but it’ll last you years and years due to the quality of fabric and how well it’s made. It’s an investment for your working wardrobe, and you’ll thank yourself for it in years to come!
