Power dressing: the practice of dressing in a style intended to show that one holds an important position in business, politics, etc.
When I first started work, I was thrown in the deep end at times, which was a huge learning curve for me but at the same time felt extremely daunting.
Client meetings were the scariest. Walking into a room full of older (I was 18 at the time), much more experienced professionals and having to introduce myself to a number of important directors. I used to think, surely they can’t take me seriously, the youngest person in the room and the least experienced. But over time, I learnt that age has nothing to do with it. As long as you have confidence, you can do anything.
My favourite quote is “what would you do if you weren’t afraid?” I now say this back to myself whenever I’m faced with a difficult situation or if I feel totally out of my depth. Continue as though fear wasn’t a part of it at all. You’re essentially faking your confidence, and I’m not embarrassed to admit I do this all the time. And it works, I promise you!
Power dressing for me personally, is putting on an outfit that instantly boosts my confidence and simply makes me feel really good about myself. If you feel confident in yourself, you ooze confidence without even knowing it.
My go-to outfit when I want to look and feel my best, is either an LBD (you simply cannot go wrong), or a bright, form-fitted dress with high heels.
I’ve linked my outfit below, and shared a bunch of my favourite dresses too. Happy shopping xx
